Køben’s design has been inspired by Danish lifestyle and architecture, especially, according to developer Michael Prendergast, “the Danish concept of ‘hygge’,” or cosiness.
Prendergast says the team behind the apartment development has “tried to create this feeling throughout the home by carefully selecting materials that provide a sense of comfort and warmth”.
Likewise, the design seeks to “intelligently incorporate natural light, reflective surfaces and raw materials to create a strong sense of connection to the outdoors”.
Køben’s design should please all comers, having been heavily informed by buyer demand from previous Campbell 5 developments, Greenwich Park and Saint Germain.
The central courtyard, which Prendergast says is in demand, is just one example of this. It fits neatly within other aspects of Køben’s connection to the outdoors.
The winter gardens which some apartments feature are another. These gardens have been designed to provide residents with an enclosed “sanctuary” during Canberra’s cold winter months.
Køben sits within the Campbell 5 development area, the master plan for which incorporates a new area of parkland, aiming to create pedestrian amenity and vibrant streetscapes.
Artwork has been embedded onto the site, which features vertical gardens, generous open spaces and outdoor exercise areas.
Just five minutes from the city and Lake Burly Griffin, Prendergast believes “the location of the precinct really does offer the best of both worlds”.
Throughout, Køben apartments feature interesting and large floor plans, a result of the building’s position on the site.
Prendergast says the distinct angle seeks not only to best incorporate light, but also to maximise views over Anzac Parade and Mount Ainslie.
“We made a deliberate step to provide a bit of diversity” within the building’s design, he said.
Apartments are available in one, two and three-bedroom varieties or as a penthouse. Double glazing is standard throughout the complex, with apartments featuring stone benchtops, oak timber flooring, induction cooktops, thermoseal ovens and fully integrated dishwashers.
