A Barton hotel has been crowned Canberra’s best development.
The Doma Group’s Little National Hotel was named the Property Council of Australia’s ACT Development of the Year at a cocktail reception at the National Gallery of Australia on Tuesday.
The 120-room hotel is within walking distance of Parliament House and was designed to accommodate public and private sector employees travelling to the nation’s capital for work.
Guest rooms feature all the amenities of a five-star hotel, and common areas – including a library and a lounge – are open 24 hours a day.
Property Council of Australia ACT executive director Adina Cirson said the hotel had “reinvented the affordable luxury market in Canberra”.
“Little National is a vibrant addition to Doma Group’s growing precinct in Barton, and showcases the ACT’s strong skills in precinct planning and design,” she said.
The award-winning development is among three Canberra projects vying for a national award in May.
Capital Property Group is in the running for best tourism and leisure development for the Vibe Hotel Canberra Airport.
The Australian National University’s Florey Building is also in the running for an award for best heritage development.
