The Story Behind Purtle Plevey Agencies In 1911 a young rural agent, V.J Byrnes opened the door of a business in Manilla, His mode of transport was a horse and sulky. He toured the district securing business everywhere he travelled, his ability to achieve results for his clients earned him one of the most respected names in the agency business for the best part of last century the business continued after his retirement and in 1984 was taken on by local agent V.J Flett who had served his Apprenticeship with V.J Byrnes and continued the principles of his predecessor working hard to achieve the best results for his clients. In 1997 Patrick Purtle and Bill Plevey took up the business upon the retirement of Vince Flett, the two expanded the business by each one focusing on their specialist field, Patrick evolving the stock sale section into one of the most successful in the region & Bill focusing on Real Estate, Property Sales & Clearing Sales. In 2004 the company expanded to Gunnedah when it acquired a fifty percent share of Rex Carter stock and property with the idea of providing options for clients looking for sale yard options, the acquisition of Rex Carter shares has been a great asset to the business. The remaining fifty percent share of Rex Carter Stock & Property was purchased in 2009 growing our business further. In 2011 the retirement of Bill Plevey brought about an opportunity for both companies to be merged under the new ownership of Patrick & Sally Purtle & Samuel Plevey, Bill’s son. As of the 1st of July 2011 after 100 years in business the company changed name to Purtle Plevey Agencies Pty Ltd. The new company offers the same personalised service as always and maintains the highly efficient staff which our clients and customers have come to know and trust.We pride ourselves on being a wonderful group of people that have served the company & its clients for many years & hope to continue for many years to come. The principles held by the previous owners of providing quality service on a personal basis and giving our greatest effort to achieve maximum results are continued to this day & ensures the continuity of our business and the success of the business of our clients.
