The Raine & Horne Story - A History of Achievement Raine & Horne was founded in Sydney in 1883 by Tom Raine and Joseph Mortimer Horne. The Raine family is still actively involved with the company and as such, Raine & Horne is Australia's oldest and largest family owned real estate agency. Raine & Horne opened for business in Wentworth Court, Elizabeth Street, Sydney as "Land and Estate Agents", a job description which was all encompassing. At that time, a Land Agent did everything from residential and commercial sales to valuation and rent collection. From the very beginning, Raine & Horne has adhered to a set of business practices which have resulted in growth and achievement, the envy of their competition. These practices are based on the company's expertise and total commitment to clients' property needs across sales, leasing, management and consulting services for all types of property. Today, over 3,000 people work under the Raine & Horne flag in a network of hundreds of offices throughout New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, ACT, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory. Overseas there is a network of offices in many nations as set out in the Network Directory. "On the spot" knowledge of local trends and market conditions plus access to the vast resources of the Raine & Horne national and international network give their offices the competitive advantage which consistently ranks Raine & Horne as one of the leading real estate organisations with one of the highest sales turnovers in the nation. Over the latter half of this century, this full service real estate network has experienced remarkable growth and sales firepower, and has been underpinned by a commitment to the highest standards of professionalism and ethical behaviour. The concept of the 'family' company (four generations), is never overlooked and is the difference which has strongly branded Raine & Horne in the marketplace. Since 1883, the company's corporate goal has been to give personalised service and above all, to exceed client expectations. Every day that is achieved. Raine & Horne has more than simply survived through periods of boom, recession and bust - it continues to flourish. The Raine & Horne story is inextricably linked to the growth and progress of the real estate industry in Australia. Its ability to expand in a variety of economic conditions over ensuing decades has kept Raine & Horne at the forefront of the industry. Raine & Horne today continues to be a leader in the property industry.
