In 1996, Dr James Liu attended a medical conference held in the Gold Coast. While he was there, a real estate agent tried to sell him some apartments – he almost bought two. However, when he came back to Melbourne his bank did not approve the loan. Instead, the bank manager suggested that he try purchasing property in Victoria, since the Gold Coast was considered high-risk at the time. James found a block of land with a permit to build units near the hospital where he worked. The bank gave him a loan for the land and building costs, and he successfully completed the development. The following year, James started his company, Weast Corporation Pty Ltd. He worked part-time on property development and became involved in several other businesses, gaining the vast experience that has contributed to his excellence in selling real estate properties and businesses today. In 2002, James furthered his skills by attending the prestigious Harvard Business School. James’ next step was to become a full-time business entrepreneur, where he became involved in several international businesses. After years of overseas business ventures, he returned to Melbourne where he worked at an agency as a business broker and real estate agent. There, he quickly rose to become the top seller, and so many of his major clients encouraged him to open his own agency. After completing the necessary courses and undertaking extensive work experience, he obtained his full Real Estate Agent License, along with a Real Estate Agency License for his company. Today, James and his team specialise in selling large properties and businesses. Soon after setting up his own agency, he quickly sold numerous luxury properties in Toorak, Canterbury, Hawthorn, Kew, Brighton and Camberwell, along with many high-quality businesses. His company has grown and expanded rapidly, and he has since recruited several sales consultants to join him. Now, Weast sells properties and businesses from all around Melbourne, and has a strong presence in the cities of Boroondara, Stonnington, and Bayside. According to James, the secret to his success is the combination of Western and Eastern culture, and many of his clients and customers notice that he can deal well with people from Western background as well as people from Eastern background. James created the name of his company in 1997 by combining West with East. This is the philosophy and foundation of Weast.
