Watch right now …

Pointless

Channel 10, Monday to Friday 6pm

A bit out of left field, but I love the hosting combo of Dr Andrew Rochford and Mark Humphries for this new game show. Premiering on July 23, will it do better than Family Feud, the show it replaced?

Jack Irish

ABC, Sunday 8.30pm

It is getting into the meaty part of this wonderfully written series – starring Guy Pearce – now. Who killed Eddie and Lakshimi? We are one step closer with this episode.

Paul Murray Live

Sky News, Monday to Thursday 9pm-11pm

Paul Murray is a talented broadcaster. This news program takes a different look at current affairs and the day’s politics, and is one of the most watched subscription TV shows.

Sunrise

Channel 7, Monday to Friday 5.30am-9am

Will long-time co-host David Koch be back next year? The persistent rumour is that he will not. Time to tune in and watch the end of an era?

American Horror Story: Cult

Showcase, Thursday 8.30pm

Ryan Murphy has to be one of the best television producers of our generation. This latest American Horror Story – premiering on July 26 and the seventh installment of the creepy anthology – is everything hoped for and expected of his talent. Fans will love it.

Love Island UK

9Now, Sunday to Thursday 8.30pm

Now that the Australian version is over, all is not lost! It is surprising how much Australians embraced this format. Tragic, really.

Australian Ninja Warrior

Channel 9, Sunday to Tuesday 7.30pm

Australian Ninja Warrior is quite repetitive – how many times can they jump over a pontoon? But equally, it’s absolutely transfixing.

Are You Being Served?

YouTube

It’s not politically correct, but I still can’t get enough of this classic British sitcom starring Mollie Sugden, Arthur Brough, Wendy Richard and John Inman.

“I love a good police drama. Law and Order SVU is my go-to after a long day. Incredibly,  the show that the whole family watches religiously together is Jeopardy. We’ve watched it together since Lexie [Rhonda’s daughter] was a toddler.”

The word is …

Casey Donovan to star in new sitcom

The 2004 Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan is making her acting debut in August.  “I’m releasing Street Smart with Channel 10,” she said.

“It’s a sitcom and I play the role of Tia, a probationary parking inspector who gets into a bit of mischief with Joseph. It was daunting and nerve-wracking, but so exciting.”

Donovan impressed Channel 10 executives when she won I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here in 2017.

Speaking of I’m a Celebrity …

Will it be back? Both hosts Julia Morris and Chris Brown want to return, but the program remains in limbo. Will Channel 10 pick it up again?

At the Logies on the Gold coast in July, both Morris and Brown said they wanted to see another series in South Africa.

“We are really hoping for a recommission, we are crossing everything,” Morris said. “It could go either way. I feel like we are not ready to say goodbye to Africa yet. I am hoping it goes in our favour.”

Watch out for …

Hamish and Andy: True Story

Channel 9, coming soon

Hamish Blake and Andy Lee are on to a winner with this format. Meticulously edited and researched.

Get Shorty

Stan, now streaming

Sitcom star Ray Romano stars in this remake of Get Shorty, alongside Chris O’Dowd.

US PGA Championship

Fox Sports, August 9-12

The final major golf championship of the year; always splendid to watch, as the Americans do it so well.

The Innocents

Netflix, from August 24

Aussie Guy Pearce in British sci-fi drama. It looks very, very, spooky.
