The octagonal apartment with 360-degree-views of the Melbourne skyline, which was renovated by “the sweethearts” Andrew Simmons and Whitney Nolan in season 11 of The Block, is back on the market.
The three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment at 3/1a Affleck Street in Melbourne’s South Yarra is currently listed for sale with a price guide of $1.9 million to $2.09 million.
The property sold for $1.79 million at the televised Block auction in October 2015, winning the former partners $390,000 and fourth place in the competition. It had since sold for $2.05 million in 2018.
Kay & Burton’s Darren Lewenberg and Duncan Fraser-Smith are managing the sale. Lewenberg says the campaign has been going well, with numerous inquiries coming through.
“We’re finding some young, upwardly mobile couples or people with small families who want a spacious apartment and to be within walking distance to all amenities and public transport,” he says.
While the apartment was part of The Block’s history, it has changed since it appeared on television in 2015, with the owners opting to renovate and modernise it.
“The kitchen, floors, and bathrooms have all been updated,” Lewenberg says, and the sellers have installed new joinery, a bar and a study.
“It has a very good and large floor plan, and they rejuvenated it to make it more contemporary and ensure that the quality was elevated.”
The Block contestants transformed the seedy former Hotel Saville into a luxury apartment building, and since then, several of the homes have been resold.
The current owners of No. 3, who wish to remain anonymous, have decided to sell after living in it for close to six years.
“They’ve enjoyed living in it, [and] rejuvenated and updated it to suit their style and sort of contemporary living,” Lewenberg says.
