In Nine’s candid series, celebrities and prominent Australians take us behind closed doors and share their five favourite things around their home.
These pieces could be anything, but all carry meaning.
Our At Home series launched with Julie Bishop, the former Minister for Foreign Affairs, and continues with celebrity colourist and Clairol spokesperson, Belinda Jeffrey.
Jeffrey, who is based in Sydney and is the founder of La Boutique Salon in Double Bay, has tended to the locks of A-list stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Kate Hudson, Rose Byrne and Kylie Minogue.
Custom-made rug
Jeffrey has a custom-made rug from Silvana Azzi Heras’ brand, House of Heras.
“I have been wanting one of Silvana’s pieces for years as I have had the pleasure of knowing her for over 20 years as a client and friend,” Jeffrey tells Nine.
“I had the pleasure of meeting her through Catherine Martin and Baz Luhrmann as she worked with them. I also had the pleasure of colouring and creating the hair colours on the actors for the Moulin Rouge & The Great Gatsby films.
“I looked after Catherine and Baz for over 20 years before they moved to New York.”
Jeffrey describes the couple as “two of the most creative and inspiring people” she has had the pleasure of working alongside.
Samantha Robinson Porcelain
“My beautiful friend is one of Australia’s best potters and made me this amazing bowl around 10 years ago,” Jeffrey tells Nine.
“She’s made me many pieces over the years and custom makes all my coffee, tea cups and saucers for the salon. They are very special pieces and made with love.”
Jeffrey says she loves the smell of fresh coffee throughout her salon.
“I normally have a flat white with oat milk in the morning at home, and then when I arrive at my salon I usually have another one or two more throughout the morning!”
“I’m quite particular on having the best coffee to serve in the salon. We use Salvador coffee, which is from Brazil, and we even buy the beans and grind them ourselves to ensure our clients get only the best.”
Jewellery Box
Jeffrey has a jewellery box by American designer Kelly Wearstler that holds both real and costume jewellery.
“This was given to me by my best friends as a birthday gift last year,” Jeffrey says. “I keep all of my favourite gold bling in there.”
Jeffrey also owns a few signature designer fashion items.
“My go-to for winter fashion is my Aje denim dress, but I’m also loving my new cowboy boots by Jeffrey Campbell,” the fashionista says.
“I also bought a classic black Yves Saint Laurent bag for myself last year as a birthday gift while browsing stores on Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles.”
Clairol
Jeffrey tells Nine that the biggest mistake people make when colouring their hair at home is using the wrong colour choice or base shade, and going either too dark or not light enough.
“My favourite go-to is Clairol’s root touch-up product,” the hair guru reveals.
“I’ve been working with this brand for over 10 years and recommend to all my clients when they are heading overseas, to top up their regrowth for the front of their hairline and parting.”
“I especially recommend the product to my brunettes as it matches very well and is great for grey coverage.”
Ella Baché skincare range
Ella Baché’s eternal range, including their replenishing day cream and regenerating night cream, are Jeffrey’s go-to skincare products.
Jeffrey also swears by a few cosmetic items, including a bold red lip.
“I always have a red lipstick in my handbag 24/7… my favourite red lipstick shades right now are Gwen Stefani’s GXVE Original Me and Chanel Red 104,” she says.
