Although we like to think that men have moved past cavemen status with all the grunting, unruly hair and chest beating, men are still men with needs.

The last bastion

Often referred to as the ‘last bastion of masculinity’, the man cave can be a garage, spare room, rumpus room, workshop, or any other area of the house that’s used exclusively for men’s business. These ‘no women allowed’ rooms are a male sanctuary: a place to grunt, burp and watch the game with a few mates.

Although originally designed to spend some much needed time alone, some contemporary man caves are equipped with TVs, gaming consoles, pool tables and even bars so that men and their buddies can enjoy the man cave experience.

In fact, creating a space just for the guys has become so popular there are websites, Man Cave of the Year contests, man cave products and even a TV show dedicated to the cause.
