You know things are getting serious on The Block when someone calls a body corporate meeting.

Whether it’s cheating accusations or dodgy finances, if someone is suspicious of another team a body corporate is the place to hash it all out.

With opposing opinions and big personalities you can usually count on big dramas at a body corp.

Here we take a look back inside the first body corporate meeting of the 2023 season – and there was a lot to unpack.

Leah clears the air with Kyle following the body corp

Since the body corporate meeting called on Monday, Leah felt there was tension still there between her and Kyle and it was “really affecting” her.

So she decided to take matters into her own hands and approach Kyle to clear the air.

Leah asked Kyle if he had an issue with her, to which he said ‘no’.

“I just wanted everyone to have a chance to have an opinion,” Kyle explained.

“I didn’t want anyone’s intention to be to target Steph and Gian.”

Things seemed to be smoothed over between the two despite their conflicting opinions.

“I still think the body corp was the perfect forum for that discussion,” Leah told cameras.

And despite the matter finally being resolved, Kyle didn’t think that he and Leah would ever be “best buddies”.

“But that doesn’t mean I’m going to be nasty to her or distance myself from her,” he later said.

“That’s obviously not who she is either because it was great that she took the opportunity to come and approach me.”

Ash has a bone to pick with Kyle following the body corp

Demolitions meant that Leah and Ash had to crash out at pals Kristy and Brett’s house.

And all slumber parties involve a bit of gossip.

Ash in particular had some thoughts about the tension that lingered with Kyle following the body corporate meeting.

“I didn’t really like the way that Kyle handled that meeting, it was too forward or loud,” Ash told cameras.

In particular, Ash wasn’t a fan of the way Kyle spoke to Leah.

Ash told cameras: “If I spoke that way to Leslie, how would he [Kyle] feel?

“And if he said it was fine, then I would just turn around and yell at Leslie.”

As Ash, Leah, Kristy and Brett sat down for a quick bite, Kristy chimed in, saying things “seemed personal”.

For Ash, the fall out with Kyle could go one of two ways – he’d either confront Kyle or “be done” with him.

With no one resolving the matter just yet, Leah said Kyle is “gonna have to talk to [her] sooner or later”.

Body corporate called after Steph’s dad helped out

The race to reveal their very first room saw Steph and Gian pushed to their limits. And after countless issues with their builder, a visit from Steph’s dad Nick certainly eased their stress.

But when Nick got on the tools, it didn’t go unnoticed by the other teams, especially Leah and Ash who called a body corporate meeting to “nip it in the bud”.

While there are no rules about family members, The Block rules do require anyone working to be paid and they must be inducted.

“We thought they [Steph and Gian] were essentially getting free help. And we thought a body corporate was a good space to get everyone together and just lay down the rules so that no one is confused,” Leah told cameras.

Ash kicked of the meeting by telling Steph “there’s a few problems” with her dad’s visit. Leah chimed in saying that she felt Steph was “bending the rules”.

Steph clarified what exactly her dad helped with: “My dad helped the glazier, as he is also a glazier, put the shower screen in.

“Apart from that my dad did not do anything else.”

Steph and Gian happily took accountability for the fact that Nick was not inducted on site.

But once that matter was settled it was in fact Kyle that had an issue with Leah and Ash. He felt they “thought they were running the whole site” and could’ve raised the issue without calling a body corporate.

“She [Leah] spoke over everyone that was saying something contradictory to what she was going to say,” Kyle later told cameras.

Leah wasn’t too happy about Kyle’s contribution to the meeting later telling cameras, “I’ve never even heard that man speak, and now I’m like, ‘Actually don’t speak to me again’.”

Leah said that calling a body corp was her only option as she didn’t “even have time to scratch her a–e” on Sunday.

But a sneaky bit of footage showed that Leah did in fact have time to do that and also have a chat to Kristy about Steph’s dad.
