The contestants unveiled their first guest bedroom of the series this week, with Bianca and Carla taking out the win after producing a luxurious bedroom that paid homage to the old St Kilda building.

Judge Neale Whitaker had one word for the room – “hallelujah” – Shaynna Blaze had a love affair with the timber panelling lining the ceiling and Darren Palmer commended the “glimmer of glamour” that came with the walk-in-robe.

It was a beautiful bedroom that stood out among some of the very best guest bedrooms every produced in the long-running show.

Here are five other guest bedrooms that impressed the judges on previous seasons of The Block.

1. Ronnie and Georgia: The Block 2017

Ronnie and Georgia made Block history with their first guest bedroom on last year’s show, finishing the room an entire day early. The couple won their first room thanks to the soft decor that made up the space.

2. Elyse and Josh: The Block 2017

Just a few weeks later in the same competition, Josh and Elyse boasted perfect scores for their second guest bedroom. The couple were commended for their decision to mix up the colour palette.

3. Karlie and Will: The Block 2016

In 2016, contestants Karlie and Will were lauded for nailing the art deco brief and their use of bold artwork. In awarding the couple their first win of the season, Neale said there was nothing he would take out of the room.

4. Dean and Shay: Blocktagon

In season 11, eventual winners Dean and Shay took home their first room win with their first guest bedroom. All three judges agreed it was one thing: fresh.

5. Shannon and Simon: Glasshouse

Back in 2014, Shannon and Simon produced a guest bedroom in which wooden panelling and splashes of colour played the hero. The brothers walked away with the win for a bedroom that was as functional as it was stylish.
