These aren’t just any bathrooms, they’re bathrooms worthy of a luxury penthouse hotel in the swankiest of locations – London’s Mayfair or New York’s Manhattan, perhaps. We can’t all jet set around the world and stay in this kind of style, but we can take on some of the ideas as our own. There is no end to the inspiration, here.

1. Palatial perfection
The gorgeous bathroom above may be enormous, but its warm tones and superb styling make it a welcoming and intimate retreat.

2. Understated luxury
Anyone can add some high-end opulence to their bathroom with the help of lovely light fittings, a tufted armchair and an over-size bathmat. Sky-high ceilings also help.

3. Modern delight
What’s not to like about this contemporary bathroom? The only problem would be choosing whether to have a bath or a shower – the understated wooden cabinetry ensure both are the stars of the show.

4. Let it rain
Now, that’s what I call a shower. Close off the sliding doors at either end for privacy or make the most of the view.

5. Traditional with a twist
The chandelier and vast proportions give this bathroom prestige, but the strip lighting and fresh white tiles give it a modern edge. I love the semi-transparent screen between the bath and walk-in shower.

Fancy your own chandelier?

6. Blue bonus
Wash yourself in whatever colour you feel like in this handsome shower. The best hotels deliver surprises like this at every turn.
