Edwards says Great Mackerel Beach is “not a destination address” inundated with tourists. As such, even Palm Beach homeowners have been known to have a weekender at Great Mackerel.

The north-facing living rooms are bathed in sun, which bounces off enormous cathedral ceilings.

Exposed timber beams convey a rustic, coastal charm.

The ground floor contains the vast living and lounge area, with an endless water view thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows.

These peel back to a long balcony, looking across the Pittwater to Barrenjoey Headland and lighthouse.

Upstairs, a timber kitchen also faces the water, and a void lends light and a sense of space.

A covered, lower-level deck has sensational vistas of its own, Edward says.
