They might be known for their love of beiges, creams and whites, but it’s clear Steph and Gian’s journey on The Block is anything but vanilla.
From demolishing the wrong room to growing tensions with their builders, the pair couldn’t quite catch a break.
Despite the dramas happening inside their home, it was the whispers among contestants that almost forced them to throw in the towel.
“At the time it felt like everything was against us”, Gian revealed on the most recent episode of The Official Block Podcast with Shelley Craft, following an undeniably hellish first few weeks on site.
“You couldn’t talk to them… but they were talking about you”, Shelley noted.
Leah and Ash had called the show’s earliest ever body corporate meeting to raise cheating allegations against Steph and Gian.
It was called after the duo were left outraged that the couple were given a helping hand by Steph’s father.
In the world of architects, she may come highly regarded… but it’s apparent in The Block world, Steph’s ruffled a few feathers.
“Exactly. Like, why am I so intimidating? We’re coming last… leave us alone”.
“I just can’t believe how bloody blindsided we were when they called a body corporate. We had no idea”.
For Gian, it was a question of motive: “We didn’t think a body corporate could come out about us because we’re dead last… What’s the objective here?”
