It’s only Week 3 of The Block, but Scott Cam is already issuing warnings about budgets to contestants.
On Scott and Shelley Craft’s weekly house walkarounds, the host got frank with the teams about their spending.
Things this year look a little different, with the Blockheads getting their plans, schedule and budget for the entire 12-week build upfront.

First in the firing line were Kyle and Leslie in House 1.
“I need to discuss you budget,” Scott began.
“You’re spending too much money early on and we want to nip it in the bud.”
Kyle and Leslie had already spent $57,000 of their $250,000 budget and it’s only Week 3.
“It’s too much,” Scotty warned.
While he said that there weren’t any major problems at the moment he warned that if they continue spending like they are, then they’ll likely run out of coin toward the end of their reno.
While it’s only early days, Kyle and Leslie take Scotty’s advice seriously saying they don’t want to be labelled as “over spenders”.
House 2 aren’t having the same budget chat since they’re up $5,000 and a bonus point Gnome thanks to their challenge day win.
Leah said with a spend of $20,000 or less a week, she and Ash should be worry-free when it comes to their budget. And so far they’ve stuck to that plan.
“You guys are running a good ship! I love it,” Scotty applauded them.
And Scotty keeps the positive vibes rolling when he and Shelley hit House 3.
Earlier this week, Kristy and Brett discovered non-compliant pine stumps under the flooring of their 1950s home, meaning the whole house would need to be re-stumped.
The good news Scotty delivered is that Kristy and Brett were allowed to work ahead on that task rather than waiting to re-stump each room week by week.
“That’s huge for us,” Kristy beamed.
Over in House 4, Steph and Gian are still running off the momentum of last week’s Room Reveal win and are feeling confident as they’re miles ahead of the other teams for this week’s room.
But Scotty and Shelley raised concerns that plans for their Work from Home space might seem a little “crowded”.
Scotty and Shelley dished some advice again in House 5 to sisters Eliza and Liberty.
The girls have been struggling with their styling following the judges’ harsh comments about their Studio Bedroom.
And Scotty and Shelley weren’t sure about their latest choice to have a fake timber wall.
So, Shelley took Liberty to Toorak for some inspiration.
They visited the home of an interior designer Zoe Murphy, they also met Alice Stolz from Domain for a little lesson in styling.
“There are just so many things I took away from it, that I didn’t think would work together,” Liberty told cameras.
