Oscar award-winning actor Jennifer Lawrence stands to lose several million dollars on the sale of her stunning Manhattan penthouse.
Lawrence, whose movie hits include Silver Linings Playbook, The Hunger Games and American Hustle, has dropped the asking price of the penthouse to $US12 million ($A17.4 million), which is $US3.6 million less than the star paid for it in 2016.
The loss might not faze the 29-year-old Kentucky-born actor whose popularity has soared since she was “discovered” by a talent scout in 2006 at the age of 14. With her unassuming, down-to-earth personality, Lawrence has endeared herself to her many fans, and has had no shortage of work since.

The actor, who recently married art gallery director Cooke Maroney in Newport, Rhode Island, initially worked out of New York. She is now based in Los Angeles close to the studios, hence the desire to sell the New York residence.
And this is one super-star glamour pad – it’s easy to see the appeal to Lawrence. The penthouse is in New York’s Upper East Side at the top of The Laurel, a 30-storey condominium, which means it commands exceptional views of the New York city skyline and Hudson River.
The three-bedroom penthouse is huge, providing 378 square metres of living space, but the pièce de résistance has to be the 278 square-metre outdoor living area that spreads over two terraces, one of which is on the rooftop.
Lawrence has an enviable outdoor kitchen, a fireplace with pergola, plenty of room for loungers and a built-in pingpong table. And then there are those views.
Special features of the open-plan interior include floor-to-ceiling windows that maximise the eyrie feel of the penthouse and an all-white Poggenpohl kitchen with Carrara marble benchtops.
The property is being marketed by Compass Realty. Property information courtesy Top Ten Real Estate Deals.
