Inspiration for home decor can come from anywhere – nature, your wardrobe, a famous architect, an Oscar-winning film. Or from the looks that debut at New York Fashion Week. Here are seven pairings in which a room evokes the colours and mood of a runway ensemble. Which one is your favourite?
1. Fashion designer: Anna Sui
A London living room channels the rich-hippie vibe – albeit in a more traditional format – of the modelling duo who opened Anna Sui’s fall 2017 New York Fashion Week show.
2. Fashion designer: Son Jung Wan
The luminescence of this bathroom’s aqua tile echoes the sheen of the aqua dress, while the chair reflects the deeper tones of the design’s floral print.
3. Fashion designer: Desigual
The levity of this room’s animal prints, zesty pink accents and fun hanging chair matches the mood of the models for Desigual, who literally skipped down the runway to show the designer’s fall 2017 collection.
4. Fashion designer: Prabal Gurung
A Prabal Gurung dress in an eye-grabbing colour features a hallmark of current fashion: special sleeve detailing. A similar bold hue dresses up the entrance to this San Francisco Eichler.
5. Fashion designer: Badgley Mischka
This kitchen in southern France features glossy red cabinets that echo the shine of the Bagdley Mischka dress. The yellow cabinet interiors and splashback evoke the model’s bright canary-yellow earrings.
6. Fashion designer: Addition Elle
This sleek living room embodies the colour palette of the lively jogging outfit from Addition Elle, which designs clothes for plus-size women. The mood of the room is certainly quieter than that of the outfit, yet they share a chicness.
7. Fashion designer: Leanne Marshall
Dark green and chartreuse are a gorgeous colour combination, as this ensemble from fashion designer Leanne Marshall proves. There aren’t a lot of interior rooms on Houzz channeling this combination, but this outdoor shed makes good use of both colours: note the dark green used for the shed’s trim.
