It is so easy to feel helpless in Australia right now, as devastating bushfires have destroyed more than 2000 homes and claimed 28 lives across the country.

If you’re looking for simple ways to help, many of Melbourne’s retailers, venues and organisations are supporting bushfire relief fundraising.  We have rounded up the best ways to invest your cash this month – whether it’s buying a bottle of wine or attending a yoga session, these are the perfect ways to make your dollar go that little bit further and help out those in need.

EVENTS

Lululemon is hosting over 60 donation-based events in Australia and New Zealand. Choose from events like a Saturday morning yoga session at their Collingwood store or a Strava run at Princess Park. Bring a full wallet and join in the fun!

Treat yourself to a day or two at the races. Melbourne Racing Club will donate all gate admissions in full from the race meetings at Ladbrokes Mornington Race Day (Friday, January 24) and the Australia Day Weekend Races at Caulfield (Saturday, January 25) to the Bendigo Bank Community Fund.

Welcome to Thornbury, Sea Shepherd and Working Amazing have teamed up this Sunday for a Bushfire Wildlife Relief fundraiser. All proceeds are going to charity and they will have food trucks, a vegan bake sale and market stalls.

SHOP

Local Melbourne interior experts Fenton & Fenton have put together an online auction that runs until January 22 with a range of original artwork, furniture and homewares going under the hammer. There might be something in the mix you have been eyeing off, so why not snap it up for a great cause?

The Adelaide Hills wine region was hit hard with fires last month, so to help the winemakers pick yourself up a top drop from Vinomofo. All profits from purchases are donated to the Adelaide Hills Bushfire Relief. In support of the same region, Patrick of Coonawarra has announced it will donate 50 per cent of all total online sales for the month of January to the SA Country Fire Service.

EAT

Tantalise your tastebuds with a few scoops at Gelatissimo this Saturday with $1 from every scoop at all stores going to Vinnies Bushfire Appeal. Let’s help them get to their $50,000 goal!

Sink your teeth into some top notch crust as, until January 26, Italian institution Tipico will be donating $1 of every pizza and pasta sold to the Vinnies Bushfire Relief.

Jump on the freeway and head to Pt Leo Estate – until the end of January, they are matching all donations made to their CFA helmet. And then sit back and take in the gorgeous sculpture park with a glass of wine.
