Is your home in need of a mini-makeover in the lead up to a special event? Seeking guidance on what’s hot and what’s not in the decor world?

You could be in luck. Interior designer Shaynna Blaze, of The Block and Selling Houses Australia fame, has put the call out for applicants to appear on her new home makeover TV show.

Deadline Design will see Shaynna and her team visit everyday homes to help renovate them in time for a special occasion or event that is to be held at the house.

From the impending arrival of a baby, to a family that has outgrown their home, or maybe your in-laws are coming to stay and you’re in desperate need of space; it doesn’t matter what the reason is, Shaynna Blaze would like to work together with you, Australia.

Shaynna told Domain she hopes the show will help people understand the difference between renovating to sell and renovating for life.

“Renovating your home to live in is a very different process to getting your house ready for sale. Everything has to be considered for how you live now and how your life will change in the long term,” she said.

The show is about creating “forever homes” that not only look great but are also fantastic to live in.

“I am really excited to show not only the people we are renovating with but the viewers how important it is to not only connect with the space you live in, but how everything in your immediate environment has an impact on your daily lifestyle, emotions and how you interact with your family and friends.”

Each renovation will be completed over two weeks, a tight timeframe for any design project, but Shaynna is feeling confident.

“Project management and organisation will be key to making this work and showing how to set the ideas in concrete before you start, rather than changing your ideas as you go.”

But it won’t all be smooth sailing.

“Each house and homeowner will have a completely different brief and reason for their deadline, so I do expect some tense moments with the build as well as the emotions that come with it,” she said.

And for those who think they’re going to get a free makeover, think again – all renovations will need to be paid for by the homeowners, but you can “expect some extra goodies along the way”.

Only applicants from Melbourne have been invited to apply for the show which will air on Foxtel’s Lifestyle HOME channel.
