What made you apply for The Block?

Well, why wouldn’t ya! Out of every TV show in Australia, it’s the best one and, if you’re having a go, you may as well be on the best one.

Is this your first time renovating?

First time for Jess, not for Norm.

What room are you excited about renovating?

The living room, because there’s something we want to put in there that we have always dreamed about having in our own home.

Which room terrifies you?

Probably the master bedroom – you spend the most amount of time in the master bedroom and it’s hard to make a bed and a couple of side tables look flash enough for buyers.

How would you describe your interior style?

I would like to call it simple.

What is your secret weapon?

Living room week.

Which Block judge is your favourite?

I love all of them. I’d love to have a wine with Shaynna, I’d love to smell Darren, and I would love be invited to Neale’s house for a fancy dinner.

Which previous Blockheads are you drawing inspiration from?

I know we hold no resemblance to them, but I would say the twins (Alisa and Lysandra). I really loved their boldness and their ability to make a simple room something different. We will never get to their level, but we will try to include different features and styling choices to other contestants.

What surprised you most about being on the show, as opposed to watching it?

It’s cliche, but it’s much harder than what it looks. Everyone says that it’s all for the cameras and you can fake it. But you can’t fake it. Just look at Norm’s face – you can’t fake that emotion!
