They aren’t known for being the most exciting spaces, but failing to deliver a laundry that prospective buyers consider a functional space can have a massive impact come auction day.
As current Block contestants struggle to put together one of the largest zones set aside for a laundry in the show’s history, here are some of the best ever created on the show.
Jason and Sarah may not have won the room reveal with their hallway and laundry in 2017, but the judges did argue that their laundry was the best room they had delivered all season.
According to Shaynna Blaze, their “choice of charcoal coloured tiles added to the sense of opulence and sophistication”.
Elyse and Josh’s laundry in last year’s season was, by their own admission, deliberately “built for a big family”.
The judges loved the addition of a drying room, the concrete colour floor tiles and the fact it was a “great, traditional” laundry.

In 2016, Block contestants Karlie and Will created a laundry Shaynna Blaze said “felt expensive enough that you would actually enjoy hanging out here”.
Neale Whitaker also enjoyed the space, calling it “sophisticated and on target for potential buyers”.
The couple went onto win the series.
When Darren and Dea produced their winning laundry in their second season of The Block, they were praised as the only team to deliver a laundry chute, subtle styling and commitment to storage.
Michael and Carlene made sure their benchtop and splashback were the heroes of their winning laundry space in season nine of the long-running show.
The judges considered the space “grand and luxurious” and loved the simplicity of the space and pared-down styling.
