Furnishing a new house is a process in itself – it can feel like a sprint, after you thought you’d crossed the finish line of the property journey. For everyone, that is, except those lucky enough to snap up a property on this year’s season of The Block.

Here are just some of the fun, quirky and luxe things you’ll find in each house.

House 1: Maddy and Charlotte

Granger by Anna Blatman. Photo: The Block Shop

The judges adored this colourful duck painting by Anna Blatman, chosen by past contestant Paige in week two’s guest bedroom.  Both minimalist and playful, this artwork is a nod to the wildlife of Phillip Island.

Gingham Check - Type 2 - Sage Wallpaper from Grafico. Photo: Nine

Wallpaper doesn’t have to be boring, and this Gingham Check wallpaper is proof. It makes the children’s bedroom inviting and fun, creating a space kids will love to spend time in.

Omagh Vase Large from Flowers of Phillip Island. Photo: Flowers of Phillip Island

You can never have too many flowers. The Omagh Vase in the kitchen can hold them all. Its neutral tones pair perfectly with the marble benchtop, timber cabinets and gold tapware.

Eden Moss Towel Collection from Linen House. Photo: Linen House

Nothing says luxury like soft and fluffy towels. These Eden Moss towels are a lush addition to the main bathroom, with chic fringing in a beautiful deep green.

Fern Ruched Bed from Create Estate. Photo: Nine

Courtney and Grant came equal-first in main bedroom week and, it’s safe to say, this gorgeous ruched bed frame helped them top the leaderboard. Inspired by ’70s design style, this plush velvet bedhead will make you want to sink into a cocoon of blankets and never leave.

Henry Chair from The Lazy Stylist. Photo: The Lazy Stylist

The judges loved these dining room chairs, too, designed by Courtney and sold through her interior design business, The Lazy Stylist. The on-trend curved backs of the Henry Chair are reminiscent of waves lapping at the nearby beach.

Miffy Sitting Corduroy from The Block Shop. Photo: The Block Shop

Meet Miffy – the sweetest little bunny on The Block. She’s a white corduroy rabbit handcrafted from recycled polyester with a plush filling, perfect for even the smallest of kids.

JA60 Dome Preassembled Pizza Oven from Jalando Pizza Ovens. Photo: Jalando Pizza Ovens

Whether you’re hosting guests or cooking for one, this pizza oven makes dinner easy and delicious; all you have to worry about is whether pineapple belongs on pizza (it does).

For anyone on the hunt for a holiday home, there’s no doubt a boat sweetens the deal. You can thank Blockheads Haydn and Ricky for their top-notch fishing skills, and the humble fish and chips they served up to win the Bar Crusher worth a cool $100,000.

Pacman and Street Fighter 2 from 240 Amusements. Photo: Nine

Who doesn’t love a bit of nostalgia? These arcade games are a creative addition to the rumpus room, which also comes with a pool table. It’s a step above your run-of-the-mill board games.

Botticelli Freestanding Coffee Machine from E&S. Photo: E&S

The Botticelli La Pavoni coffee machine allows you to set the perfect temperature so you can make your coffee exactly how you like it. With the dual boiler feature, you can brew and steam at the same time – providing cafe-quality brews without the wait time.

Husqvarna Automower from Lilydale Instant Lawn. Photo: The Block Shop

Take lawn maintenance off your to-do list: the future is here with this robot lawn mower. Sit back, download the app for remote-controlled access and let the Husqvarna Automower do the work.

Elder Star Sofa from Kolbi. Photo: Nine

Every house on The Block has high ceilings in the living and dining areas, and these two had the right idea of putting a four-metre long sofa at the centre of it all. There’s plenty of room for family movie nights or an afternoon nap.

'Night Float' from The Block Shop.

On the mezzanine en suite bathroom wall, a smoky-eyed lady sits at the bottom of the ocean, her arm resting on a fish. Night Float by Sarah Carter-Jenkins is an atmospheric addition to any room.

Fiddle Leaf Fig from Tyde. Photo: Unsplash

Those with a green thumb will know the value of a Fiddle leaf fig. If plants seem to wither in your presence, don’t worry. Once established, this plant stands proud with large, majestic leaves.

Hapuna Hanging Chair from The Block Shop. Photo: Nine

The boho Hapuna Hanging Chair, made from sustainable rattan, brings whimsy to the children’s room.

House 5: Kristian and Mimi

Who says kitchens can’t be bold, bright and fun? Kristian and Mimi’s “Shrek” oven divided the judges, but we love the standout feature appliance.

Dress and earrings from Gucci, donated by Kinsman. Photo: Nine

It would be remiss not to include the Gucci dress and earrings! The duo won the prize after winning with their children’s bedroom, making a comeback after receiving lukewarm feedback on their main-bedroom en suite the previous week.

'Lend a Hand' from The Block Shop. Photo: The Block Shop

Need a hand furnishing your home? Maybe the terrible pun will be forgiven when you lay eyes on this handmade ornament, made by local ceramic artist Kaz Morton.

Keep the kids entertained (and outdoors) with a basketball court – not many home owners can say they’ve got one of these in their garden.
