Shaynna Blaze admits she struggles with the pushback from contestants when judges offer design advice and tips on The Block 2022. But she says the brief is harder this year than ever before, with contestants asked to follow a country/contemporary style.
“That’s the thing coming into this, it’s not just about creating rooms, it’s about how does this room fit into the whole scheme of things,” Shaynna told Shelley Craft on The Block Official Podcast.
She urged contestants to be mindful of the potential tree change for future buyers, but said some were overwhelmed with the enormity of the task.
“There’s been a lot of pushback and that’s what I find strange, when you are getting advice from people that do it for a career, that live it, you are pushing back and you’ve never done this before – I struggle with that,” Shaynna said.
Shaynna has also spoken about her own move to the Macedon Ranges. She said all three judges, Shelley and host Scott Cam are well-placed to give advice given all of them have made their own tree changes.
“That’s what I am finding a little bit strange so early in the piece, as you said they should be soaking it up like a sponge.”
Shelley remarked some contestants were getting caught up in the brief, rather than taking a step back and looking at “what they already have”.
“I think they are overwhelmed with the size of the property, they are overwhelmed with the project that’s ahead of them,” Shaynna said.
