Will and Jada's enormous Calabasas compound is worth a reported $US42 million (AUD $56 million).

Will Smith is one of the world’s best-known actors, most recently winning a Best Actor Oscar for his role in King Richard at this year’s Academy Awards.

Smith’s successful career has in part afforded him and his family – including wife Jada Pinkett-Smith, and children Willow and Jayden Smith – a life of luxury. This, of course, extends to his property portfolio.

Will and Jada’s enormous Calabasas compound is worth a reported $US42 million (AUD $56 million) and took a whopping seven years to complete – construction began in 2003 and finished up in 2010.

The property is so massive at 150 acres that it has its own post code, according to Architectural Digest.

They enlisted architect Harry Perez-Daple, along with interior designer Judith Lance, to create an adobe-style personal retreat in the famed LA neighbourhood of Calabasas, also famously home to the Kardashians.

Many experts helped make the Smith compound a reality. Hundreds of master woodworkers, plasterers, metalsmiths, stonemasons, and upholsterers contributed to the deeply personal project.

“Everything needed to be done by hand,” Will told Architectural Digest. “We wanted to feel the love and labor [sic] that went into every piece of this place.”

The unique home, despite being extremely spacious at 2,300sqm, has plenty of character and soul, with warm tones, earthy textures and plenty of nooks – including Jada’s meditation room with circular skylight.

The home itself has a unique circular floor plan, nine bedrooms, functioning recording studio (where Willow reportedly recorded her hit single Whip My Hair) and home cinema. Click here for more pics from AD.

The pad’s massive front door was salvaged from a fort in northern India, and that’s just the beginning of the custom details.

The sprawling estate is big enough to include basketball and volleyball courts and even a golf course. There’s a glorious pool and picturesque lake with gazebo on the property, too, an area Will says is his favourite.

“Answers come to me out there,” he told AD. Said Jada, “For Will and me this home was always a spiritual endeavor [sic]. We’re very earthy, organic people. We wanted to create a family retreat, something made by hand and as natural as possible, something that ties back to the land.”

The Smiths often feature the highly individual home on their Instagrams. Fans may also recognise the home from Jada and Willow’s online talk show, Red Table Talk, which is filmed on the property.

Smith is a massive proponent of real estate investing, and it shows. He, along with Jada, have amassed quite a property portfolio over their 27-year-long relationship. Will has also invested in Landis, a startup looking to help make homeownership a reality for nontraditional homeowners, alongside Jay-Z.

The Smith real estate portfolio has included homes in Pennsylvania, Hidden Hills in LA and Kauai, Hawaii.

But Will’s most infamous purchase might just be a $US 2.5 million (AUD $3.3m) custom-built two-storey motor home dubbed ‘The Heat’.

Bought in 2004, The Heat offered Smith a new way to travel and live in style while on set. He lived in it while filming blockbuster hits like Men In Black, Ali and The Pursuit of Happyness.

The monster movie trailer was featured on HGTV’s Celebrity Motor Homes, showing interiors which include a full kitchen with $US 100,000 to $US 200,000 worth of granite countertops and a set of sliding doors known as the Star Trek doors. Oh, and the bathroom is worth $US 25,000, too.

The Heat was reportedly taken off the streets in 2011, but the Oscar winner is said to still own it.
