Sometimes, true beauty can be found in pure simplicity. Like the simple, yet striking, home at 144 Cedar View Road, Beaumont.

Sitting on a private road on Berry Mountain in NSW, the home affords seclusion and tranquillity.

On first approach through the red cedar forest, you don’t see much beyond the gravelled front courtyard space. It’s only when you step inside that the beauty of the area and the home’s commanding, elevated position is revealed.

Designed and built by architect Thomas Isaksson, the simple rectangular design of the three-bedroom home was created to respond to the nature of the block.

The elongated shape of the structure allows every room to enjoy the view – a north-west-facing panorama stretching over Kangaroo Valley.

From the two bedrooms at one end of the home to the open-plan living, dining and kitchen space in the middle, and a further bedroom sitting privately at the other end, all of the rooms boast expansive windows, inviting in the scenery.

Timber floors stretch through the home, while natural timber window frames pop against white walls. In the bathroom, a well-placed bath is designed for long soaks with a view, while a wood-burning fireplace in the lounge is a cosy inclusion. From there, large glass doors open out onto a generous deck,

“It’s breathtaking. The views are just amazing, because it’s on the side of the mountain, looking into Kangaroo Valley and beyond,” says selling agent Carrie Bond from Bond Lifestyle Properties.

“And there’s nothing pretentious about it. It’s perfect for a weekender or perfect for a couple who just want to downsize.”

A 15 to 20 minute drive will get you to Nowra in one direction, Berry in another direction, or right into Kangaroo Valley, meaning amenities are close enough when needed.

“It’s just a gorgeous place to live because it’s quiet,” Bond says. “There are some amazing properties up there, and you would never even know that they’re there. But you’re not isolated. You’ve still got some neighbours nearby.”

The home sits tucked up at one end of a gently undulating one-hectare block while a shed just off the front entrance comfortably fits two cars.

“And it’s easy land to work with,” Bond says. “There are some blocks that are built on the side of the mountain and they’re so steep and it just drops off. But you could extend this house quite easily.”
