Legendary actor Danny DeVito has a reported net worth of $US80 million ($113 million).
But you won’t find the 77 year-old star of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, L.A. Confidential and Terms of Endearment, and former wife Rhea Perlman, 74, famous for her role in Cheers, flashing the keys to a multimillion-dollar mega mansion for their latest real estate manoeuvre.
The separated couple are selling a $US1.55 million ($2.2 million) home on a cliffside in Mount Washington, Los Angeles, which, by celebrity house price standards, is as titchy as the 4″10 film star himself.
It’s one of a few properties the pair own, across sought-after neighbourhoods including Silver Lake, Los Feliz and Hollywood Hills, according to the LA Times.
They paid $US1.3 million ($1.85 million) for 4167 Seaview Avenue in 2018, the newspaper reports, and are selling with neighbouring parcel of land in a package deal.
To exploit the hillside lot, the tri-level property has banks of windows and decks off living rooms on every floor, and has been designed in an airy, loft style.
Even the main living space is dual level, to capture panoramic views, with two bedrooms and three bathrooms in the floorplan.
From its plum vantage point, the home looks out to the city, sea and canyon, and is near the Santa Monica Conservancy and downtown LA.
Agents Paul Lester and Aileen Comora of the Agency are handling the listing.
Perlman and DeVito have broken up and reunited so many times over 40 years it is hard to keep up. But it seems that these days, their relationship is firmly fixed on friendship.
One of their most significant real estate acquisitions was the $US85 million ($121 million) Bellagio Estate that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were thought to have purchased earlier this year.
Perlman and DeVito bought the ten-bedroom colossus from Australian billionaire James Packer.
