Actress and singer Zooey Deschanel has listed her five-bedroom California home with price hopes of $US5.95 million ($A8.78 million), according to reports.
Deschanel and her soon-to-be ex-husband, producer Jacob Pechenik, bought the house in Manhattan Beach, California in January 2018 for $US5.58 million, not long before the final episode of her popular sitcom New Girl aired in May.
A short walk to the beach, the Cape Cod-inspired home with 455 square metres of living space has been renovated in the interim, according to the listing, with new hardwood floors and marble kitchen counters, new brass fixtures, and a walk-in pantry.
The home also offers a large main bedroom with a private balcony, walk-in wardrobe and private bathroom, a large backyard and a downstairs basement area with a bar and wine cellar.
Deschanel and Pechenik married in 2015, and have two children. They were no strangers to the Manhattan Beach area, having recently sold another property they owned in the area for $US4.7 million. That was a Cape Cod-esque six-bedder, first listed in June 2018 for $US5.25 million.
The couple’s divorce was first reported in September of this year, with Deschanel since romantically linked with Property Brothers host Jonathan Scott.
Aside from her numerous acting credits — she has appeared in films Elf with Will Ferrell and 500 Days of Summer with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as well as Almost Famous and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy — Deschanel has also enjoyed a successful musical career, performing as one half of indie duo She & Him.
Her lifestyle and entertainment news site, HelloGiggles, which she started with friends Sophia Rivka Rossi and Molly McAleer in 2011, was bought by Time Inc in 2015.
Deschanel’s sister is Bones actress Emily Deschanel, and her father is Oscar-nominated cinematographer, Caleb Deschanel.
