Latitude Financial chief executive Ahmed Fahour has listed his Hawthorn penthouse for sale with price hopes of $5 million to $5.5 million.
The former Australia Post boss is known for his top taste in property and still owns the landmark mansion Invergowrie in the same suburb after offering it to the market for $40 million to $44 million in 2018.
The penthouse was transferred into Mr Fahour’s name for a token $1 consideration from his former wife Dionnie late last year.
Now, Kay & Burton’s Ross Savas, Jamie Mi and Sam Wilkinson have been appointed to sell the top-floor Glenferrie Road apartment.
“He’s [Mr Fahour] decided to stay in his house and not move,” Mr Savas said. “He bought it and he was going to move in but decided not to.”
The about-face means a contemporary four-bedroom residence with views across the city and spacious outdoor terraces is on offer.
On the upper level of the Emblem development, the spacious apartment boasts an internal floor plan of about 371 square metres, plus an 85-square-metre western terrace and 15-square-metre northern terrace.
“This is a true penthouse,” Mr Savas said. “It’s got an amazing outdoor deck that you can entertain on.”
Other drawcards include the lavish kitchen with butler’s pantry and Miele appliances, study, gym, an elevated bath in the main bedroom and four car spaces.
Mr Fahour previously made headlines when he embarked on a multimillion-dollar renovation of the Hawthorn house that he paid $22 million for off-market in 2013.
He refurbished some buildings, reinstalled a tennis court and installed water tanks at the home, which also features a working bell tower and a billiards room.
In his final year as Australia’s chief postie, Mr Fahour was paid $5.6 million, a figure he defended when announcing his resignation.
Latitude, which offers personal loans, credit cards and a buy-now-pay-later service, was set for an initial public offering last year but the deal did not go ahead.
