From its private hedging and decorative red brick facade to the cottage gardens spilling off the back terrace, every corner of this heritage-listed Ainslie house will delight.
Belinda and Jason Nicholson bought the home nine years ago and fell in love with its heritage features.
“It has this really lovely set of French doors that lead out to a vine-covered pergola,” Belinda says.
“As soon as I walked in it took my attention.”
It has been extended to include three bedrooms and a stunning new bathroom and kitchen. However, the timber detailing, high battened ceilings, Canberra red bricks and terracotta tiles remain.
The cottage gardens are lovely in autumn, but in the warmer months they’re awash with colour.
“The new owners should get a nice surprise come spring,” Belinda says.
She says the location has also been wonderful.
“It’s two blocks to Ainslie shops, three blocks to Dickson and you can walk to Braddon,” Belinda says.
“It’s got that lovely feel, lots of people walk and bike around Ainslie, you really feel like you’re part of the community.”
