The remaining unsold Mr Fluffy blocks in the ACT are set to go under the hammer in the upcoming months.
Suburban Land ACT auctions hosted by Colliers International are scheduled for March, April and May, which will see about 200 parcels of land offered.
Colliers International ACT director of residential land marketing Shane Radnell says they plan to have all the blocks auctioned off by the end of the financial year.
“The asbestos taskforce needs to work through the final list of blocks and if the current owners give up their first right to purchase then all of those blocks will come on to the market by the end of the financial year,” he says.
The next Suburban Land ACT public auction will be on Thursday, March 1, at The Hellenic Club Woden.
“We have 93 set to be auctioned at the beginning of March, which is much larger than other Suburban Land auctions we’ve held,” Radnell says.
Blocks from across Belconnen, Tuggeranong, Woden and Weston Creek, as well as the inner south and the inner north, are scheduled to be auctioned on the day.
In December, a block at 5 Normanby Crescent sold for $2.75 million – the highest price paid for a former Mr Fluffy block. Radnell says it is hard to tell if that record will be broken.
“The block in Deakin was a little bit special in that it was a large block sitting on a corner so it was well suited for a dual occupancy,” he says.
“What always makes a block stand out is if it has the capability to build more than one dwelling on it.”
At the upcoming auctions there are two notable blocks of more than 2000 square metres. These include 3 Northcote Crescent in Deakin (2095 square metres) and 75 Arthur Circle in Forrest (2106 square metres).
All former blocks are currently listed on Allhomes.
