Now, more than ever, supporting our local communities is at the forefront of our minds and at Allhomes, we are passionate about assisting local organisations and are proud to announce our partnership with OzHarvest.

OzHarvest was established to address two fundamental issues in society – excess food wastage and the need to feed vulnerable communities.

Its Canberra branch started in 2008 and every week, a team of volunteers rescue more than 7000 kilograms of surplus food and deliver close to 22,000 meals to people in need. In the last week, the organisation delivered its 8 millionth meal in Canberra.

“As a business, Allhomes continually strives to make a positive impact on our environment and in our local Canberra community,” Allhomes general manager Dani Harmer said.

“Our team has been hard at work over the past few months to ensure we have a packed 2021 calendar full of different initiatives throughout the year to support OzHarvest.”

To kick off the partnership, Allhomes will be supporting OzHarvest in Hands Across Canberra’s Hands Up for Canberra Giving Day appeal.

OzHarvest is one of more than 250 local charities and organisations that will raise much-needed funds for Canberrans who need it most by March 11.

“With food rescue becoming increasingly important to communities in need, we want to also drive awareness of the incredible work OzHarvest does here in Canberra,” Ms Harmer said.

OzHarvest Canberra city manager Belinda Barnier said the partnership with Allhomes “allows us to get on with the job”.

“Every dollar raised in Canberra stays in Canberra,” she said.

“OzHarvest works on the premise that you need to help those in need locally, and that need exists here in Canberra so to be able to be supported by Allhomes allows us to do the job and help vulnerable communities.”
