For the second year in a row, when the University of Canberra (UC) Capitals run onto the basketball court, Allhomes will be right there supporting them.

We are proud to have again locked in as an official sponsor of the UC Capitals for their 2023/2024 season, which has just started and runs until March.

“The passion the Canberra community holds for the Capitals is very much palpable at every single game and we are excited that Allhomes can help be a part of that again this season,” says Allhomes senior marketing manager Dan Hawcroft.

The 2022/2023 season was the first time Allhomes partnered with the Caps, sponsoring the inaugural Sixth Player Award.

UC Capitals general manager Lucille Bailie says the team introduced the award to recognise the impact of their fans, and Allhomes was their first port of call to make the award happen.

“That’s the value the team places on our supporters and fans – they’re really like our sixth player,” she says. “They’re loud, they’re engaging, they literally help the team perform better.

“Allhomes were the first sponsor we called because we felt it was such a great fit. Allhomes is a trusted local community brand. And the award, thanks to Allhomes, seems to have really resonated with our fans, because they’ve come back out bigger and better this season. We’ve had two almost sell-out games so far this season.”

Allhomes is not only supporting the Caps and their fans this season – it’s also supporting the next generation of basketballers.

This year the sponsorship has extended to include Cuddle Cappie, an activation during the third-quarter break at home games, where a young fan gets to take to the court blindfolded, and is guided by the audience to ultimately find and hug the Capitals’ mascot, Cappie the Giraffe.

“Then, thanks to Allhomes, the participant will also get a Caps prize pack, plus $150 towards their annual basketball fees to help them play the sport they love,” Bailie says.

“Allhomes and the Caps already share a lot of values, and we love that Allhomes are also just as passionate as us about supporting young kids to play basketball, because it’s such a fabulous sport. It keeps kids and families healthy and active.”

Hawcroft says that being able to continue and grow the partnership with Bailie and the team at the UC Capitals shows Allhomes’ commitment to supporting women’s sports throughout the region.

“Not only are the UC Capitals an incredible group of people on and off the court, but their passion for encouraging young players into the game is something that really resonates with us and extends wider than gameday,” he says.
