Plans for a 40-unit townhouse development in the north Gungahlin suburb of Moncrieff have been lodged with the ACT government.
The development application outlines plans for a mix of one, two and three-bedroom townhouses for the 6470-square-metre site.
Developers Antalija Constructions purchased the land for $4.15 million at an auction in March.
The block is on the corner of Hoffman Street and Bernard Heinze Avenue, close to the suburb’s future group centre, school and community facility sites.
Alpine Villas is expected to cost almost $7.8 million to construct.
The townhouses, which were released for sale on Tuesday, will help meet the strong demand for medium-density living in the suburb, according to selling agent Pod Projects Group’s managing director Paul O’Donnell.
“There’s very little townhouse development left in Moncrieff and this is one of the last blocks to be offered,” Mr O’Donnell said.
Antalija Construction’s previous Moncrieff development The Reserve sold out before construction commenced.
Mr O’Donnell said there was a strong demand for property throughout Gungahlin, but Moncrieff’s price point made it particularly appealing to buyers.
“In Moncrieff you can get a brand new affordable home,” Mr O’Donnell said.
He said Alpine Villas’ two-bedroom townhouses will be priced from $299,000, while three-bedroom homes will start at $440,000.
The development will feature Scandinavian-inspired architecture by R Inventive Building Design, with interiors by The Mill Architecture + Design.
“Antalija Constructions are extremely excited about this project as it’s something that’s refreshingly different to what’s on the market,” Mr O’Donnell said.
“A large on-site display suite with a full kitchen and bathroom will be available for viewing very soon.”
Construction is scheduled to begin later this year with completion expected in late 2018.
Once complete, Moncrieff will house up to 2200 dwellings in a mix of single residential, medium density and high density multi-unit developments.
