The ex-wife of Amazon tycoon Jeff Bezos has generously donated two Beverly Hills mansions to charity.
MacKenzie Scott, who wed Bezos in 1993 and later divorced in 2019, offloaded two properties on July 29, worth a combined $US55 million ($81,657,510), to the California Community Foundation.
Scott secured sole ownership of the estates after their high-profile divorce.
An avid philanthropist, Scott is worth an estimated $US37 billion ($54.9 billion), according to Forbes.
The novelist achieved her impressive net worth thanks in part to her four per cent ownership of Amazon.
The California Community Foundation announced Scott’s generous act in an official statement shared to their website.
Ninety per cent of sale proceeds will go towards “affordable housing grant making” and the remaining 10 per cent to an “immigration integration program”.
“We applaud and are grateful to MacKenzie Scott’s extraordinary philanthropic investment in Los Angeles,” said CCF President & CEO Antonia Hernandez.
“Her singular commitment — here and across the country – to transformative philanthropy has already secured the long-term future of dozens of non-profits.
“With the California Community Foundation, her generosity will support organisations struggling to solve some of the most intractable issues facing our community. We are grateful for her partnership.”
Scott has donated one home on N. Alpine Drive which she and Bezos purchased for $US24.4 million ($36.3 million) in 2007, along with another located on the same street.
The former couple purchased the home in 2017 for $US12.9 million ($19.1 million).
Their first home boasts seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a greenhouse, tennis court and pool.
The second property is slightly smaller with four bedrooms, six bathrooms, a guesthouse, patio and pool.
Scott is now married to high school chemistry teacher Dan Jewett.
