The Canberra auction market continued its November boom at the weekend, achieving a clearance rate of 69 per cent.
The highest-selling property was an O’Connor home, 11 Coolibah Crescent, which sold for $1.64 million.
While a majority of homes had success, a beautifully renovated Palmerston home was passed in at Saturday’s auction. Lucky for homebuyers looking for a modern family home with stunning landscaped gardens, it means that this four-bedroom abode is still on the market.
Saturday’s wet weather may have dampened spirits and forced the auction at 53 Weddin Circuit indoors, but a large crowd still gathered to watch the proceedings.
Bidders and watchers would not have been displeased with staying inside as the recently renovated home’s aesthetic is incredibly pleasing.
The property is encased with lime-washed pine ceilings, cedar feature walls and authentic timber-look porcelain floor tilings that give the home a welcoming feel. A central fireplace also adds to the cosy atmosphere.
An initial bid of $870,000 was placed on the Palmerston property, this was increased to $950,000 by the auctioneer, Andrew Potts, but no further bids were made. After consultation with the vendors the decision was made to pass in.
Elsewhere in Palmerston it was a different story with 53 Bimberi Crescent selling for $775,000 at auction.
The three-bedroom home had 15 registered bidders and was purchased by a young family.
November has been a strong month for bidding in the territory with vendors looking to sell before the Christmas break. Each weekend the number of scheduled auctions has kept around a sturdy 100 mark, while clearance rates remain about 70 per cent, with this looking to continue into the final Saturday of the month.
