Room to play in Willemsen-designed Kambah home

There are three key things Sara Broomhill loves about her home in Kambah: the natural light, the beautiful layout and the outlook from every room.

It was the three-bedroom property’s thoughtful design by Gary Willemsen that attracted Sara to 44 Crozier Circuit 13 years ago and it has been lovingly updated throughout.

“When I moved in I was a young professional but now it’s more of a family home,” Sara says.

“I put in a granite path, a deck, a child-proof fence, renovated the en suite, put in new wool carpets and changed out all the curtains with beautiful Luxaflex honeycomb blinds that I’m madly in love with.”

Cathedral ceilings, square-set cornices and clerestory windows are among the home’s original features and the sleek renovation allows them to shine.

While it’s been extensively modernised, Sara has kept the elements that make the house special.

The kitchen’s original yellow benchtops and white cabinetry remain, but they have been enhanced with new appliances, including a self-cleaning Bosch oven, and modern timber-look ceramic tiles.

Sara has also ensured the home will be loved by every member of the family.

“We’ve got an awesome kids’ treehouse with a tornado slide that I had shipped from Victoria – it’s the sort of treehouse I would have loved,” Sara says.

The house is in a tightly held cul-de-sac; most of the neighbours have been there since the homes were built in the ’70s.

“I’m sad to leave it but my circumstances are a bit different and I need something a bit bigger,” Sara says.

“It’s made me very happy to live there.”
