An Australian investor is the talk of US real estate circles after reportedly purchasing a $US150 million ($AU225.28 million) private island in a swish area of Florida.

The new owner of 10 Tarpon Island is reportedly Aussie infrastructure investor Michael Dorrell, first disclosed by The Wall Street Journal and followed up by the New York Post.

The newly-completed “compound”, as is described on the American marketplace listing, is Palm Beach’s only private island and it has its own access bridge, with a letterbox stationed at the security gate.

The luxury manse was traded at a lower sum than original hopes, listed at first for $US187.5 million ($AU280.86 million), according to reports.

Dorrell is the chairman and CEO of Stonepeak, a New York City-based capital investment firm specialising in infrastructure. The company has $US65.1 billion in assets under management, according the Stonepeak website, including in energy, healthcare and residential buildings, data centres and communications tower, among many others.

The manor on the glistening blue water has 11 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms and a day spa-style wing with a massage room, a hair and nail salon, a steam room, sauna and gym with refreshment stop.

Vast lawns meet the water in precision landscaping, with maple-toned decking, a short walk from the pool, from which to sip a drink and watch the waves.

A tennis court – which is a rarity for Palm Beach, the listing says – is surrounded by water and tall, handsomely swaying palms.

The swimming pool is fitted with jets and has a cold plunge option and a spa. A “loggia” captures breezes off the water and the outdoor entertainment space includes an al freso kitchen, multiple terraces with lounges, plus a plush pool pavilion for relaxing in.

The property comes with a one-year warranty from the developer, the listing explains, with the The Corcoran Group brokering the deal.
