Australian professional basketball player Ben Simmons has decided to call time on his sprawling Californian home, listing the abode for $US22.99 million ($32.3 million).

Set in the celebrity enclave of Hidden Hills, Simmons’ contemporary digs are just about what you’d expect from a man as enigmatic, and at times controversial, as the 25-year-old point guard.

Boasting seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a total internal footprint spanning a scarcely believable 1115-square-metres, the bona fide megamansion is replete with opulent and unique features.

Benefits include a grand lounge hall with vaulted ceilings and marble floors, home theatre with candy bar, a massive master suite, professional kitchen and a lush living area with a floating fireplace.

Outside, the manicured grounds have an expansive swimming pool and complementing pool house, extensive motor court and even a secluded guest house, which comes with its own smaller swimming pool.

The Brooklyn Nets player mustn’t have liked his palatial digs that much, though, because according to Dirt.com, Simmons is selling the property less than one year after purchasing it.

And the kicker? The former Melburnian is asking $US5.5 million ($A7.75 million) more than he paid for the avant-garde pad in June last year.

If the lofty asking price can be realised, that’ll be a significant payday for the NBA player, but with an annual salary thought to be worth roughly $40 million per year, not including sponsorship deals, the profit from the home may feel like a drop in the ocean.
