Australia's best pools include a floating shipping container in Queensland

A Queensland home’s pool needs to be seen to be believed.

Located in the Sunshine Coast suburb of Coolum Beach, the property has a floating shipping container pool where you can even park your car underneath.

The design is one of many nominated in this year’s The Poolz Awards. A panel of industry experts will judge 20 main pool categories including Most Insta-worthy and Best Glass Window Pool alongside categories for the People’s Choice Awards.

Poolz, an online pool marketplace, will announce the winners on the first day of summer.

Best Plunge Pool nominee – Coolum Beach, Queensland

A six-metre, rectangular shipping container appears as if it is hovering, positioned on top of a metal frame high above the ground.

The light grey design by Shipping Container Pools has a fibreglass interior and side-mounted glass for security.

Attached to the home’s upper living zone, the pool offers incredible sunset views and is that high up you can even park your car underneath.

Best Fibreglass Pool nominee – Toodyay, Western Australia

The Ultimo, designed by Countrywide Pools, is designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Recessed steps add a grand statement and lead to the limestone pool with its frameless glass fence and black interior.

The pool’s raised design allows for incredible views of the Wheatbelt Hills in Toodyay.

Best Concrete Pool nominee – New Farm, Queensland

The creation of Channon Architects and Norfolk Pools, the Brisbane design appears as a series of concrete blocks.

Floating honed concrete steps lead to the show-stopping pool with its sun deck and cantilevered walls.

A cantilever is a long beam used in construction that is fixed at only one end. In residential homes, it offers for a touch of drama.

Most Insta-worthy Pool – Avalon Beach, New South Wales

Space Landscape Designs are behind a luxury Sydney home’s entertaining zone.

A concrete custom infinity edge pool and spa is a show-stopping piece of architecture that blends in with its natural environment.

The pool is a limestone design with a deep blue tone and a tiled glass mosaic.

Best Glass Window Pool – Coorparoo, Queensland

In Brisbane, a family home’s sleek pool has made the Best Glass Window Pool category.

The concrete and porcelain build by Broadwater Pools and Spas, features a glass window or viewing wall. The glass interior allows for water to cascade from the pool’s edge for a touch of pizzaz.

It’s all about zones and levels for the pool that had a “boutique hotel sleek” and “Instagram-worthy” brief.
