An idyllic English country estate previously owned by Prince Charles has been listed for sale with an asking price of £4.95 million ($9 million).

The vendors purchased Brimptsmead Estate from the Prince of Wales about 27 years ago, and while they own the freehold in its entirety, an unorthodox accord was made between the two parties at the time of sale.

Charles, who has been a keen fisherman for decades, reserves the right to fish on the property’s riverbank whenever he pleases, as long as he gives 24-hours’ notice.

The 37,312-square-metre estate is in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, with the famous River Dart running straight through it, making it an ideal spot for salmon and trout fishing.

However, as Mansion Global reports, the 72-year-old heir apparent has never utilised the agreement – he hasn’t set foot nor fishing rod on the property since selling it.

Besides the royal connection, Brimpstead Estate boasts a gorgeous pink granite Edwardian family home with six bedrooms, six bathrooms and seven living areas.

Built in 1906, the current owners have fastidiously renovated the home since purchasing it from the royal Britton, adorning the Edwardian stunner with polished granite floors, custom oak panelling, 120 handcrafted leaded mullion windows and, most recently, a new 26,000 clay tile roof.

The property also features two additional three-bedroom cottages, established, manicured grounds, and a six-car garage that benefits from an entertaining area with a balcony above it.

Brimptsmead Estate has been on the market since mid-October, with international realty outfit Knight Frank handling the sale of the royal home.

Fishing rights aside, it’s bound to hook a buyer.
