Owners of a luxurious Bayside mansion are taking downsizing to a new level, selling their current home to buy a caravan.

Wellington Point residents Noel and Judy Petherbridge fulfilled every homeowner’s dream of designing and building their perfect home with oceanfront views – and they’re about to trade it all in for adventure.

Daughter Kayla Bolton said as retirement looms, it is now or never for her parents.

“Their plan is to buy a four-wheel drive and a caravan once the house sells, and then they’re going to do the whole Grey Nomad thing around Australia,” Mrs Bolton said.

“Dad is retiring so it’s the right timing.”

Mrs Bolton lived in the property for five years with her parents, and held her wedding there.

Completed six years ago, the three-storey home was designed to be the ultimate family home. However since moving out herself, Mrs Bolton said her parents discovered the property was too large for just two people.

“The house is really all about family, especially if you love the outdoors. Dad loved to launch his kayak from the back, and then there’s the infinity pool which brings everyone together,” Mrs Bolton said.

“It’s really just too big for just the two of them now.”

Joining the Petherbridges on their travels will be the couple’s beloved dogs, Hugo Boss and Isabella, who will also miss aspects of their luxurious life.

“Hugo Boss like to surf the infinity pool on a boogie board, and Bella has her own little lifejacket and goes kayaking with Dad,” Mrs Bolton said.

“The dogs are a big part of their lives, so they’ll definitely be going on the journey too.”

Place Bulimba selling agent Haydn Meyer said the home is the best in the Bayside area.

“I’d have to say this is a stand out property, not just for Wellington Point, but for the entire Bayside,” Mr Meyer said.

“Obviously this property is very high-end, but the interest has actually been localised from within the Bayside,” he said.

The property is for sale by expressions of interest, which ends September 1.
