Fallen Hollywood star Kevin Spacey has pleaded to a judge to block the foreclosure sale of his near-$5 million home, alleging bullying from the buyer.

A legal team for Spacey, who has hit financial ruin after personal scandals, filed papers in a US court last week asking the judge to invalidate the sale, the Baltimore Banner reports.

Spacey is claiming grounds of not enough notice and too low of a price for the waterfront Baltimore house, labelling the transaction a “sham”. He is also alleging “bullying” from the buyer, who he has claimed in legal documents has threatened him with publicity and eviction, the Banner said.

The purchaser paid $US3.24 million ($AU4.8 million) for the home – about $US2 million less than Spacey bought it for, the paper reports.

Earlier this year, with the sale looming, Spacey told interviewer Piers Morgan on Piers Morgan Uncensored that he is in a perilous financial situation, but had so far avoided filing for bankruptcy.

However, the property in the US state of Maryland, which he bought only seven years ago, was scheduled for a fire sale.

Spacey owes “millions” in legal bills, he told Morgan. After the first allegations of sex offences against Spacey arose, he lost his lead role on the political drama TV series House of Cards.

Through tears, Spacey, a two-time Oscar winner who was acquitted of sexual assault charges by a London court in July 2023, informed Morgan of the pending foreclosure.

“I can’t pay the bills that I owe,” he said in the interview. When Morgan asked how much money he has, Spacey answered: “None”.

Morgan asked Spacey where he is living now. House of Cards was filmed in Baltimore. Spacey responded: “It’s funny you ask that question because this week, where I have been living in Baltimore is being foreclosed on. My house is being sold at auction. So I have to go back to Baltimore and put all of my things in storage.”

When Spacey bought the home in 2017, US media reported it was done so in a limited liability company connected to him.

Spacey told Morgan he pushed the boundaries and was “too handsy”, making candid comments in the wide-ranging, almost 90-minute chat, for Morgan’s YouTube channel, which has 2.92 million subscribers.
