Fallen Hollywood star Kevin Spacey is broke and in danger of losing his $8.5 million home.

Spacey told interviewer Piers Morgan on Piers Morgan Uncensored that he is in financial ruin, but has so far avoided filing for bankruptcy.

However, the waterfront property in the US state of Maryland which he bought only seven years ago is scheduled for a fire sale.

Spacey owes “millions” in legal bills. After the first allegations of sex offences arose, he lost his lead role on TV series House of Cards.

Through tears, Spacey, a two-time Oscar winner who was acquitted of sexual assault charges by a London court in July 2023, told Morgan he is facing foreclosure on his waterfront home in Baltimore.

“I can’t pay the bills that I owe,” he says in the interview. When Morgan asks how much money he has, he answers: “None”.

Spacey answers: “It’s funny you ask that question because this week, where I have been living in Baltimore is being foreclosed on. My house is being sold at auction. So I have to go back to Baltimore and put all of my things in storage.”

However, is a last-minute twist, local newspaper The Baltimore Sun reported that the address in Baltimore associated with Spacey, which was listed for foreclosure auction on Thursday by Alex Cooper Auctioneers, had been struck from the auction register.

A spokesperson for the auction house told The Sun that it had been cancelled. A representative of brokering agency Weisberg & Conway, which is handling the listing, said the foreclosure auction will now be on July 25, the paper reports.

When Spacey bought the home in 2017, US media reported it was done so in a limited liability company (an LLC) connected to him.

Spacey told Morgan he pushed the boundaries and was “too handsy”, making candid comments in the wide-ranging, almost 90-minute chat, for Morgan’s YouTube channel, which has 2.92 million subscribers.
