You wouldn’t want to forget your wallet at this New Zealand house, which has a 100-step climb from the street to the front door.
But the property was snapped up in just 18 days thanks to its unique cliffside setting.
Designed by famed Wellington architect Roger Walker, the house overlooks the turquoise waters of Ōwhiro Bay.
The curved facade is clad in corrugated metal and planks of silvered timber, giving it a nautical air that the listing describes as “lighthouse meets boat”.
Three modest bedrooms are on offer, one of which is currently being used as an office.
There is a small kitchen, a living room with a boxy fireplace, and a couple of bathrooms nestled into the cliff.
It’s the location that truly makes this property. If the 180-degree ocean vistas from the windows aren’t enough, a huge rooftop terrace allows residents to drink in the views.
The property even comes with its own sauna set amongst the trees.
“You can dip into the world’s best plunge pool on your doorstep, then soak up the steam and scenery,” says the listing by Lowe & Co Realty.
Over 80 groups came through the open homes during the eighteen-day listing period, OneRoof reports.
The property sold for over the $NZ895,000 ($AU987,990) guide price.
The vendors, a family who moved to New Zealand from Amsterdam during COVID-19, said they sold the property in order to be closer to their jobs.
They reported that the first day they moved into the home, their three-year-old son was shocked he had to climb 100 stairs, and had to ask his dad to carry him up.
