An incredible architecturally-designed home that featured in hit TV show Westworld has hit the market for $US 23.5 million ($32.5 million).
The extraordinary modernist pad is designed by visionary architect Wallace E. Cunningham – the mastermind behind Alicia Key’s phenomenal home, ‘Razor House’.
Known as ‘Crescent House’ for its shaped inspired by the moon, the ultra-luxury signature property has just hit the market, allowing the next caretaker to nab an iconic and exclusive home.
The mansion features heavily in the tense opening scenes of Westworld’s third season, in the episode titled ‘Parce Domine’.
The enormous steel, glass and concrete construction is perched on a bluff overlooking the ocean on the west coast, in coastal Encinitas California, north of San Diego.
Cunningham’s incredible modern constructions are no stranger to the cinema – his Razor Bluff home in San Diego’s La Jolla was used as Tony Stark’s house and lab in Iron Man. It is currently owned by singer Alicia Keys and her partner, Swizz Beatz.
The curvilinear four-bedroom five-bathroom residence with its tiered design and curved walls centres around a circular terrace and crescent-shaped infinity pool, inspired by both the shape of the crescent moon and the property’s expansive ocean views.
All the principle rooms in the home are actually found on the upper level, with bedrooms downstairs. There are pathways that lead to each section of the home, so you ascend or descend without really realising.
The modernist masterpiece includes multiple outdoor decks and patios that drink in the panoramic Pacific Ocean views and create ultimate indoor-outdoor living, with the digs boasting 22.5 metres of water frontage on a a large 0.43-acre lot.
The main house includes the primary suite and two additional en-suite bedrooms, all with panoramic ocean views. Said primary suite and the staircase below both feature prominently in the opening scene of ‘Parce Domine’.
The home also has guest quarters, which offer an additional en-suite bedroom with a second room that could serve as a second bedroom as it comes complete with pull-down Murphy beds.
There are ample ‘bonus areas’ that can double as options like a gym, yoga studio, media room or office.
The project took three years to build and was completed in 2003. It was last sold to the current owners for $US 11.1 million in 2016, according to property records.
