The well-presented house at 108 Jackie Howe Crescent, Macarthur sold for $925,000.

With the race that stops the nation capturing national attention, Canberra’s property auction weekend saw a more subdued turnout, although there were some strong results.

On Saturday, Mark McCann of McCann Properties had success with the $925,000 sale of the well-presented four-bedroom residence at 108 Jackie Howe Crescent, Macarthur.

McCann said the auction attracted one bidder, who was drawn to the flexible floor plan and stunning views of the Brindabellas.

“The young couple had been searching for a home for eight months and fell in love with this property, envisioning it as a place to accommodate a family in the future.”

The spacious light-filled house provided versatile accommodation, including a family and dining room, separate living, a downstairs rumpus room and an elevated outdoor deck with views.

Macarthur has become an increasingly popular suburb for young buyers, with the median house price rising 1.9 per cent over the year to hit $997,500.

The house at 8 Timbs Street, Casey was passed in and is for sale for more than $1.05 million.

In Casey, the stylishly presented four-bedroom house at 8 Timbs Street also drew one bidder and was passed in on the day.

The Property Collective’s Lisa Harper said they were in negotiations with that buyer, and the property was now on the market for more than $1.05 million.

Set on a low-maintenance 450-square-metre block, the well-designed residence features an elevated position and offers formal and informal living space, a sleek kitchen with stone benchtops, two bathrooms and a double remote-controlled garage.

In Lawson, the palatial six-bedroom residence at 46 Solong Street sold after auction through Kevin Bi of Ray White Canberra.

Bi was unable to comment on the sale, but the luxurious home had been advertised with a price guide of $3.5 million to $4 million.

A wave of strong results during the week included the impressive five-bedroom, four-bathroom residence at 29 Stuart Street, Griffith, which sold for $2.65 million through Belle Property’s Alexander Smout. A striking two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment at 318/240 Bunda Street, City, sold for $855,000 through The Property Collective, while a three-bedroom house at 40 Banfield Street, Downer, sold through Hive Property for $1.25 million.

Ray White sold a house at 16 Gelane Street, Ngunnawal, for $670,000, along with the four-bedroom house at 44 Severne Crescent, Kambah, which transacted via Alec Brown for $829,000.

The clearance rate dipped to 49 per cent last weekend, only marginally down on the 52 per cent recorded a year ago.
