Canberra’s auction market has kicked off the year with a wave of stellar results, setting the tone for a strong 2024.
Although there were only a handful of properties on offer, homes with quirky qualities were high on the agenda and keenly sought after, particularly by young families.
The Property Collective’s Jeremy Grobben sold the unique home at 111 Walker Crescent in Narrabundah under the hammer for $1.55 million.
Situated on a generous 1076 square metre block of land, the four-bedroom home has ample family living space and privacy, with the versatile floor plan featuring multiple breakout areas.
The property has many features, including well-established and meticulously maintained gardens which attract a plethora of native birds. A unique touch is a one-bedroom yurt nestled at the back of the property.
Grobben said they had strong interest from renovators and new-home builders looking to knock down the house.
“The property sold to a family who loved the bohemian feel of the home,” he said.
Grobben added that buyers of today are well-educated about the market, with sale prices on a par with reserves.
Elsewhere, Tim McInnes from Timothy Road sold a two-bedroom home at 15 Levine Street, Evatt, for $780,000.
McInnes said the property attracted three bidders and spirited bidding before it sold under the hammer.
Set on a low-maintenance block of 497 square metres and situated in a serene loop street just a stone’s throw from the local schools and parks, the enchanting and well-proportioned home offers two bedrooms with built-in wardrobes, a study and a fully renovated kitchen.
Features include striking timber floorboards and a lock-up garage.
