Canberra auctions: Anzac Day long weekend delivers mixed results

Fewer buyers attended auctions this Anzac Day weekend, and a wave of properties failed to attract bidders on Saturday. Agents, however, reported strong interest with several properties still expected to sell at their reserve prices.

Bastion Property Group’s Theo Koutsikamanis said the striking four-bedroom, four-bathroom house at 10 Retz Crescent, Forde, drew five registered bidders on Saturday but was passed in at $2.25 million.

Koursikamanis said all the bidders were local to the area, and the property was currently under negotiation.

Set on a prominent 681-square-metre block opposite Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve and in one of Forde’s most tightly held streets, the impressive home has been crafted with a remarkable eye for detail and offers substantial indoor and outdoor living spaces, a solar-heated pool and a three-car garage.

In Bonython, the stunning house at 14 Andrea Place was also passed in on the day.

Belle Property Canberra’s Alexander Anlezark said the property was under negotiation for around $1.3 million.

Occupying a 1003-square-metre block, the five-bedroom, four-bathroom home is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac within a stroll of Strangers Pond and Pine Island Reserve, and only a short drive from Tuggeranong Town Centre.

With a stylish interior spanning over 300 square metres, the house provides vast formal and informal living areas opening out to expansive outdoor entertainment areas and gardens overlooking the swimming pool.

The property offers ducted reverse-cycle heating and cooling with room zoning, a gas fireplace in the formal living, a versatile study or sixth bedroom, a family-sized laundry, and internal access to a triple remote garage with extensive storage and workshop spaces.

The property at 14 Andrea Place, Bonython, is on the market for around $1.3 million.

Blackshaw Belconnen’s Jack Doyle said the five-bedroom house at 10 Ariah Place, Palmerston, was also passed in at auction on Saturday.

“There was interest in the property which is now listed with an asking price of more than $1.2 million,” he said.

Set on a generous 1051-square-metre block just moments from Gungahlin Town Centre, the house comprises spacious family living spaces, a fully equipped kitchen, three bathrooms, an expansive outdoor entertainment area, a swimming pool, a triple carport and a garage with workshop.

MARQ Property’s Luke McAuliffe’s auction of the quality townhouse at 12/21 Temperley Street, Nichols failed to achieve a sale and is on the market for over $795,000.

On Wednesday, Ray White Canberra had several successful results. The three-bedroom townhouse at 5/11 Hansel Place, Gordon, sold for $695,000 while the four-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse at 6/155 Maribyrnong Avenue, Kaleen, fetched $965,000.
