Canberra auctions: Fierce bidding drives strong results

A wave of buyer confidence swept through the auction market over the weekend, with competitive bidding and strong results recorded across several suburbs.

Properties that were well-presented and well-located attracted multiple bidders, leading to solid outcomes.

While some suburbs outperformed others, motivated buyers actively secured quality homes.

A spirited auction saw 11 determined bidders vying for the beautifully maintained home at 1 Gage Place, Macgregor, highlighting the strong demand in the area.

Independent Property Group’s Ray Moon said the modern three-bedroom house attracted significant interest and almost 30 bids before selling under the hammer for $985,000.

Nestled in a peaceful cul-de-sac, the immaculate house has been designed for seamless indoor and outdoor living and features lush established gardens and uninterrupted views.

The impressive five-bedroom house at 72 Samaria Street, Crace, sold for $2.215 million on Saturday.

In Crace, MARQ Property’s Sam Taylor sold the impressive five-bedroom residence at 72 Samaria Street at auction for $2.215 million.

Taylor said the auction had six registered bidders on the day, but it was a “two-horse race” at the end.

Designed by renowned TT Architecture, the award-winning house boasts a prized elevated position and features expansive and luxurious accommodation with views over the Brindabella Ranges.

In Latham, the cleverly crafted four-bedroom residence at 29 Fellows Street attracted three registered bidders on Saturday before selling under the hammer for $885,000.

Set on a 765-square-metre block, the property features two living areas, a well-equipped kitchen, two bathrooms and a two-car carport.

It is located within a short drive of Kippax Fair shopping centre, leading schools and the University of Canberra.

Luton Properties Gungahlin’s Peter White said it had been a strong campaign, and the house sold to a first-home buyer.

He said there was more confidence in the market, but it was still very hit-and-miss, with some suburbs performing better than others.

VC Property’s Varun Dhand was negotiating with a buyer yesterday after the stylishly updated four-bedder at 8/18 Mugglestone Place, Bruce, was passed in.

Ideally situated in a sought-after location near schools, shopping centres and popular amenities, the property has generous living and dining spaces, two updated bathrooms and a double garage. The property had been advertised at $1.199 million-plus.

On Thursday, Belle Property’s Lauren McDonald sold the renovated three-bedroom, two-bathroom house at 8 Batchelor Street, Torrens, for $1.015 million.

Also during the week, Ward Estate Agents passed in the four-bedroom house at 34 Spowers Circuit, Holder, which is now for sale at more than $1.2 million.
