The former DHA property at 52 Bungle Bungle Crescent, Harrison, sold under the hammer through Luton Properties for $1.165 million.

First-home buyers and investors were jostling for quality properties on Saturday, while luxury homes were also highly contested.

Luton Properties’ Jane Ahern sold the spacious five-bedroom house at 52 Bungle Bungle Crescent, Harrison, for $1.165 million.

The agency’s auctioneer, Tim Burke said the auction attracted five registered bidders on the day with both owner-occupiers and investors vying for the property.

“Being a DHA [Defence Housing Australia] property at the end of the lease, the immaculate house was freshly painted throughout and had new carpet, adding to its appeal,” he said.

This spacious family home is large enough for multigenerational families to live in comfort and is situated in a peaceful, leafy street opposite grassland.

Built in 2008, the house offers expansive formal and informal living and dining rooms overlooking the reserve. The house has an excellent layout, with more than 200 square metres of accommodation enhancing the sense of space and openness.

The property is in a convenient location close to Harrison Public School, Well Station Park, playgrounds, North Mitchell Grasslands, Light Rail and Franklin shops.

Meanwhile, in Fadden the well-presented house at 1 Hyne Place also sold under the hammer on Saturday for $1.12 million.

Luton Properties – Manuka selling agent Mina Etminan said the property drew four registered bidders and sold under the hammer to a first-home buyer.

Set on an 843-square-metre block, the house has a stylish interior with a main bedroom with en suite and spa, two further bedrooms, a study, a family bathroom, a dining and lounge area with an attached balcony, and a modern kitchen with views of the Brindabella Range.

Features include a double garage with internal access, a Vortex spa pool, evaporative cooling and heating, and a convenient location near schools, shops and public transport.

Earlier in the day, the impressive architect-designed four-bedroom house at 10 Redshaw Street, Coombs, sold at auction through VERV Property’s Sharna Sinclair for an undisclosed price.

Over in Crace, Bastion Property Group’s Theo Koutsikamanis said the modern, four-bedroom house at 14 Cocoparra Crescent didn’t draw any bids at the auction, but the property was now under negotiation for $1.3 million, with the sale subject to the buyer selling their current home.

The low-maintenance 449-square-metre block sits opposite a nature reserve and near parks, schools and local shops.

And Belle Property Canberra’s Linda Lockwood sold the waterfront apartment at 59/11 Eastlake Parade, Kingston, at auction for $1.476 million.

The stylish two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment has a spacious light-filled floor plan of 131 square metres and an enclosed “winter garden” balcony.
